A blockchain security startup had a big story to tell about the power of AI

Blockchain innovators GBC.AI wanted to market their AI-integrated security products on a very short turnaround.

We expanded the client’s brand identity with a campaign of science-fiction comics that featured protagonists using GBC.AI products to solve problems on the blockchain.

The campaign was a huge success: pivotal in boosting brand awareness, securing VC investment, and increasing community engagement across all platforms.

A serialised structure allowed us to target multiple key audiences, whilst a staggered release schedule allowed a sustained campaign that achieved longer term engagement through a more gradual building out of the GBC.AI universe.

The Brief

GBC.AI work with cutting-edge technology targeted at both business and retail clients. A creative solution was needed to develop a cohesive marketing solution that could speak to multiple audiences whilst still retaining a clear through line.

We proposed a series of three science-fiction comics, allowing us to target each audience separately within a wider “GBC.AI universe”. The science-fiction theme conveyed the cutting-edge nature of the technology whilst remaining playful and allowing us to reinvent some of the clichés of blockchain.

Episode 1: THE BEGINNING

Our initial comic was focused on high-level messaging - introducing GBC.AI and their overall mission. This introduction set up GBC.AI as the ‘Guardians’, responsible for keeping the metaverse safe & secure.

Episode 2: WALLETGUARDIAN

Comic 2 focused on WalletGuardian - a B2C solution for flagging unsafe crypto transactions. To convey its ease-of-use we depicted WalletGuardian as a pair of glasses that when worn, reveal hidden security flaws.

Episode 3: NODE GUARDIAN

Node Guardian is a B2B solution providing developers with a sandbox environment to test blockchains. To target our messaging to this audience, we emphasised two developers as protagonists. Using GBC.AI’s tools, they are able to test and launch their dApp on time.

The Guardians

We introduced a team of sci-fi superheroes – the Guardians of the Block Chain. Like their real-life GBC.AI team counterparts, the Guardians maintain peace and stability on the blockchain. This motley crew gave us a playful and accessible means of exploring tech problems, allowing us to show GBC using AI to save the day!

Results

Audiences connected to our characters and stories in the comics, and GBC.AI have successfully used our comics as pitch decks to secure investment.
